Grenchen is located in the canton of Solothurn at the southern foot of the Jura mountains and is globally recognized as one of the most important centers of the Swiss watch industry. Since the mid-19th century, the city has evolved from a farming village into a highly modern industrial hub. World-renowned brands such as Breitling, ETA, and Eterna are headquartered or have their roots here, significantly shaping the city's economic identity to this day. Geographically, Grenchen provides a fascinating contrast: to the north, the slopes of the Jura rise steeply, culminating in the Grenchenberg, a popular excursion destination with magnificent views stretching as far as the Alps. To the south lies the wide Aare plain with the 'Witi', a protected agricultural zone of national importance known as a key nesting and resting site for birds, particularly storks, as well as for hares. The city's architecture reflects its industrial rise, with modern residential quarters and functional factory buildings dominating the scene. Another unique feature is the Grenchen Regional Airport, one of the most important locations for pilot training in Switzerland and home to numerous aviation-related companies. Culturally, Grenchen has gained considerable prestige through events such as the Grenchen Housing Days or the international 'Grenchen Classics' music festival. The city is also a vital hub in the public transport network along the Jura foot railway line. Grenchen continuously invests in urban quality and the revitalization of its center to make the residential location even more attractive for professionals and families alike.
