Willisau is located in the northwest of the canton of Lucerne at the foot of the Napf region. The town was formed by the merger of the municipalities of Willisau Stadt and Willisau Land in 2006. The historic core of this small town is a monument of national significance, impressing with its cohesive medieval architecture. The three main streets, magnificent fountains, and well-preserved town gates (Obertor and Untertor) give Willisau a unique atmosphere. Willisau Castle, built in the 17th century as a bailiff's residence, towers over the town.
