Binningen is located in the Canton of Basel-Country and borders directly on the city of Basel. The municipality has evolved from a former farming village into an exclusive residential area, particularly valued for its favorable tax rates and high quality of life. A prominent landmark is Binningen Castle, built in the 13th century, which now houses a renowned restaurant. Geographically, the town extends across the northern slope of the Bruderholz hill, offering many residents a wide view over the Basel basin. Despite its urban proximity, Binningen has preserved green spaces, such as the park around the castle or the adjacent recreation areas. The economy is strongly oriented towards the service sector, with many residents working in the large pharmaceutical companies of neighboring Basel. Transport links via the Basel tram network are excellent, highlighting the close integration with the urban center.
