Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park (Spain)

Weather…

The Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park is located in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees and provides one of the most dramatic high-mountain landscapes in Europe. The protected area is dominated by the 3,355-meter-high limestone massif of Monte Perdido, the 'Lost Mountain.' Radiating from the base of this giant are four deeply incised, spectacular glacial valleys, including the famous Ordesa Canyon, with its vertical rock walls frequently compared to the Grand Canyon. The landscape is characterized by enormous diversity, ranging from dense beech and fir forests on the valley floor, past rushing rivers and roaring waterfalls like the Cola de Caballo (Horse's Tail), up to the alpine meadows and barren rocky deserts in the summit regions. The park is also an important refuge for the rare bearded vulture and the Pyrenean chamois, known locally as the sarrio.
