Badalona is situated immediately northeast of Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast and is one of Catalonia's oldest urban centers. Founded by the Romans around 100 BC as Baetulo, it was a significant city long before Barcelona rose to prominence. The Badalona Museum showcases over 3,400 square meters of underground Roman ruins, including exceptionally preserved thermal baths and residential villas. During the 19th century, Badalona emerged as a major industrial hub, famous for the Anís del Mono distillery, which remains an icon of Catalan Modernist industrial architecture. A prominent modern landmark is the Pont del Petroli, a former oil pier extending 250 meters into the sea, now serving as a scenic walkway. Badalona is also widely considered the 'capital of basketball' in Spain, home to the prestigious Club Joventut Badalona and the Palau Olímpic arena. Its 5-kilometer coastline features extensive sandy beaches and an animated maritime promenade.

Morning starts on the Rambla, an easy urban warm-up. Around midday, Casa Pavillard, the monastery and the museum stack neatly. In the afternoon, switch to the park and then the waterfront. Evening belongs to the beach, best enjoyed slowly at sunset.
Start your day on the Rambla, staying close to the cafe awnings. At noon, the Badalona Museum provides the perfect indoor escape within the underground Roman city of Baetulo. In the afternoon, the Anís del Mono factory tour keeps you dry. Finish the evening by the sea, enjoying the sound of rain from a sheltered beach restaurant.
Enjoy the mild winter sun on the Rambla. At noon, the walk up to Sant Jeroni Monastery provides a pleasant warm-up in the crisp air. The Badalona Museum offers a climate-controlled break in the afternoon. Since sunset is around 5:30 PM, we reach the beach just in time for the colorful twilight over Pont del Petroli.
By bike, the stops connect into one easy day arc. You roll from the center into the culture stops, then quickly toward the water. The Pont del Petroli stretch gives the best flow of the day. In the evening, a long slow spin by the beach is the right finish.
Cycling in the rain requires caution on the Rambla's pavement. We use the flat coastal road for a quick dash to the museum. The steep climb to Sant Jeroni is bypassed in favor of extra time in Roman Baetulo. In the afternoon, we visit the Anís del Mono factory and finish the tour safely at the sheltered train station.
Crisp winter air accompanies our ride along the coast. The climb to Sant Jeroni Monastery keeps our blood pumping and offers clear views. In the afternoon, we catch the sun in Can Solei Park before cycling to the Anís del Mono factory. The tour ends at Pont del Petroli for an early but spectacular sunset over the Mediterranean.
By car, it works best to park once per cluster. That keeps the walking short and makes the center, culture, and sea feel relaxed. The end of the day belongs to the waterfront: first Pont del Petroli, then a long beach block. This cluster logic works especially well in Badalona.
By car, we explore Badalona comfortably despite the rain. We park near the Rambla and visit the modernist Casa Pavillard. The focus is on the Badalona Museum and the Anís del Mono factory, both offering excellent indoor programs. At noon, we drive up to Sant Jeroni Monastery and finish the day at the beach in a sheltered spot.
A winter car tour offers maximum flexibility. We start at the sunny Rambla and drive up to the elevated Sant Jeroni Monastery for clear views over Barcelona. The afternoon is spent in the comfortably warm museum and Anís del Mono factory. We catch the spectacular winter sunset at Pont del Petroli before the evening chill sets in.
