Naganeupseong Folk Village (South Korea)

Weather…

Naganeupseong Folk Village in Suncheon is an exceptionally well-preserved fortress town dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. Unlike many other open-air museums, this village remains inhabited, with residents living in traditional thatched-roof houses and maintaining centuries-old customs. The settlement is enclosed by a massive stone wall, approximately 1,410 meters in length, originally built in the 14th century for protection against Japanese pirates and reinforced in the 17th century. Inside the walls, there are over 200 historical buildings, including government offices, guest houses, and residential homes, providing an authentic look into the social structure and architecture of the Joseon period. The village layout follows the principles of Feng Shui, with Mount Geumjeonsan located to the north. Visitors can observe traditional crafts such as weaving and blacksmithing, and participate in cultural ceremonies that keep local history alive.
