Tabor Laško, perched on Hum Hill above the town of Laško, is a significant medieval fortress whose roots date back to the 11th century. Originally built as a simple defensive structure, the castle was massively expanded in the 16th century to serve as a place of refuge (Tabor) for the population during Ottoman incursions. The architecture combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance elements, reflecting the long building history and various owners, including the Counts of Celje and the Habsburgs. After the castle lost its strategic importance in the 18th century, it partially fell into decay before being extensively restored in the 20th century. Today, Tabor houses a renowned restaurant, a wine cellar, and facilities for weddings and cultural events. Particularly impressive are the preserved castle walls and the chapel, which reflects the religious dimension of medieval life. The view from Tabor features a wide perspective over the Savinja River and the surrounding hills of Lower Styria.
