Sabinov gained international cinematic fame as the primary filming location for the Oscar-winning movie "The Shop on Main Street" (Obchod na korze, 1965), whose sets preserved the authentic flair of the city. The centerpiece of the town is the monumental Gothic Church of St. John the Baptist, whose richly decorated interior and adjacent Renaissance bell tower fascinate visitors.
