💡 Tips
- Start your hikes very early (before 8 AM) to avoid the long queues at the ladders in popular gorges like Suchá Belá.
- Always walk the gorges in the designated one-way direction (upstream) for safety reasons.
- Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good grip; the wooden ladders and metal steps are often wet and slippery.
- Buy your national park entry ticket via SMS or at the entrance booths before starting your hike.
- Keep in mind that completing a gorge often takes longer than the distance suggests due to the challenging terrain.

Water temperature…
Slovak Paradise (Slovenský raj) in eastern Slovakia is one of the most adventurous hiking regions in Central Europe. The landscape is characterized by deep gorges, karst plateaus, and numerous caves. What makes hiking here unique is the use of technical aids to overcome natural obstacles: metal ladders, wooden walkways, chains, and footbridges directly over the water or next to thundering waterfalls make every tour an exciting experience. Among the most famous gorges is 'Suchá Belá', which is climbed almost entirely via a series of tall ladders, and the 'Prielom Hornádu', a path that runs along the river Hornád via metal steps fixed directly into the rock wall. Another highlight is the 'Tomášovský výhľad' viewpoint, a natural rock shelf offering dizzying views into the canyon below. The historical heart of the park is 'Kláštorisko', home to the 13th-century ruins of a Carthusian monastery. The park is a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna and, due to its unique nature, remains one of the country's most beloved national parks.
