Battle of Pressburg (Slovakia)

Weather…

The Battle of Pressburg in 907 was a decisive military engagement that secured the Hungarian presence in the Carpathian Basin and halted East Frankish expansion. Led by Grand Prince Árpád, the Hungarian light cavalry utilized superior mobility and archery to annihilate the Bavarian army commanded by Margrave Luitpold. The battle, which likely took place near modern-day Bratislava, lasted for several days in early July and resulted in the death of the margrave and much of the Bavarian nobility. This victory marked the end of Carolingian authority in the region and established the Enns River as a long-standing border between the Hungarian and Germanic territories. Historical records, such as the Salzburg Annals, emphasize the magnitude of the defeat suffered by the Frankish forces. The outcome of this conflict allowed the Hungarian principality to consolidate its power and paved the way for the eventual establishment of the Kingdom of Hungary.
