First mentioned in 1404, it developed into a significant commercial center during the Middle Ages, famous primarily for its large animal fairs, especially horse trading. The town's architectural landmark is the Gothic Church of the Body and Blood of Christ, built in the 14th century, which uniquely integrates parts of the original Stropkov Castle ruins into its structure.
