The Shaybah Oil Field is a technological masterpiece located in the heart of the Rub' al Khali, the world's largest contiguous sand desert, in southeastern Saudi Arabia. Discovered in 1968, its development was delayed until the 1990s due to the extreme environmental challenges posed by the terrain. Shaybah produces high-quality, extra-light crude oil and has a production capacity of approximately 1 million barrels per day. Establishing the field required constructing a 600-kilometer pipeline and extensive infrastructure amidst sand dunes reaching heights of 170 meters. In addition to oil, the field contains significant natural gas reserves, which are processed by a sophisticated Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) recovery plant. The project serves as a symbol of Saudi Aramco's engineering excellence under the most demanding climatic conditions.
