Water temperature…
Chita, the sun-drenched capital of Zabaykalsky Krai, stretches picturesquely in a broad valley at the confluence of the Chita and Ingoda rivers, surrounded by the forested foothills of the Yablonovy Mountains. Founded in 1653 as a Cossack winter quarters, the city gained notoriety in the 19th century as a place of exile for the Decembrists. These educated aristocrats unexpectedly brought a rich intellectual and cultural life to the remote Siberian settlement, the legacy of which can still be admired today in the form of historic wooden houses, such as the original „Church of the Decembrists“. Today, Chita is a major railway junction on the Trans-Siberian route, serving as a gateway to China and Mongolia and offering a fascinating mix of Russian Orthodox tradition, Buddhist culture, and Soviet industrial architecture.
