Carp Island, also known by its local name Ngerechong, is a private conservation sanctuary located within the southern lagoon of Palau. Its unique crescent shape encloses a shallow area where extensive seagrass beds and dense mangrove forests thrive, providing a nursery for diverse marine life. Best season
The dry season from November to April is good for birdwatching and snorkeling trips around the island. In the rainy season from May to October, coral gardens are often murkier, but birdlife remains active.

Early morning birds are most active and the sea is usually calmer, making boat access easier. Late afternoon, birds return to their nesting sites, offering good photo opportunities.
Etiquette
Access to the island is limited to designated areas to avoid disturbing bird colonies. Feeding birds and collecting shells or corals is strictly prohibited to protect the ecosystem.
What to bring
