💡 Tips
- Book ferry and cruise tickets well in advance, especially during the summer high season, as they sell out quickly.
- To avoid the massive cruise ship crowds, start your sightseeing early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
- If you are driving the hairpin bends of Ørnevegen (Eagle Road), be prepared for narrow passes and reversing for larger vehicles.
- Weather in the fjords can change rapidly; always dress in layers and carry a waterproof jacket even on sunny days.

Geiranger lies at the head of the world-famous Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005. The fjord is surrounded by some of the steepest mountains in Norway, with peaks reaching 1,700 meters above sea level. Iconic waterfalls like the Seven Sisters and the Suitor pour directly down the cliffs into the deep blue waters below. Hiking trails lead to historic mountain farms such as Skageflå, perched on dizzying ledges high above the fjord. The approach via Ørnevegen (the Eagle Road) features 11 hairpin bends and a magnificent viewpoint at Ørnesvingen. For the ultimate view, visitors drive up to Dalsnibba at 1,500 meters, Europe's highest fjord view from a road. Despite its popularity with cruise ships, the village maintains its charm with the Norwegian Fjord Centre and local eateries serving mountain trout and reindeer meat.
