Popova Shapka is one of the most prominent winter resorts in North Macedonia, situated in the Shar Mountains at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters above sea level. The area is highly popular among winter sports enthusiasts, offering optimal conditions for skiing, snowboarding, and freeriding. It also hosts the annual "Sharplaninski Kup" ski slalom competition, which consistently attracts international participants to the region. During the summer months, the snow-covered slopes transform into expansive green pastures, making the region a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers. Numerous well-marked hiking trails lead to the surrounding peaks, including the 2,748-meter-high Titov Vrv. The mountain air and proximity to nature create excellent conditions for active outdoor recreation. The resort is easily accessible from the city of Tetovo, either by car or by cable car. The site features various accommodations, restaurants, and ski rental shops that cater to the convenience of visitors. In the traditional mountain lodges, guests have the opportunity to sample local Macedonian culinary specialties, such as the distinctive Shar mountain cheese.
