The Monastery of St. George the Victorious is located in the village of Rajčica, not far from the town of Debar in North Macedonia. It functions as a metochion (branch) of the famous Bigorski Monastery and is home to an active community of nuns. The current monastery church was built in 1835 upon the foundations of an older religious structure dating back to the 11th century. The monastery is globally renowned for its unique workshop where ornate bishop's mitres are handcrafted, worn by Orthodox dignitaries around the world. The architecture is striking for its elegant stonework and artistic interior frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Saint George. Furthermore, the monastery houses precious relics, including a portion of the hand of Saint George, making it a significant pilgrimage site. From the monastery grounds, visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of Debar Lake and the surrounding mountains. Beside their prayers, the sisters dedicate themselves to preserving ancient crafting traditions and tending to the monastery gardens.
