Bardia
Bardia is a pristine natural paradise in the far west of Nepal. Visitors primarily come here to observe the majestic Bengal tiger in its natural habitat, as the chances of sightings are often better here than in other parks. Alongside exciting safaris, the region features deep insights into the fascinating Tharu culture, which has lived in harmony with the jungle for generations. The landscape is defined by dense sal forests, wide grasslands, and the branches of the Karnali River. Here, you can see not only one-horned rhinos and elephants but also, with some luck, the rare Ganges river dolphins. The silence of the wilderness and the enormous biodiversity make Bardia an unforgettable destination for nature lovers. Access is usually via a flight to Nepalgunj followed by a road journey. Culinarilly, you should try local Tharu dishes like Ghongi. The best time to visit is between October and April, when the weather is mild and animals frequent the water holes more often.
