Khaptad National Park is located in western Nepal in Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, and Achham districts. It was established in 1984 and covers an area of about 225 square kilometers. The park is named after the scholar and sage Khaptad Baba, who meditated here. The landscape consists of grasslands, forests with rhododendrons and oaks, and river valleys. Elevation ranges from 1,400 to 3,300 meters. Wildlife includes leopards, Himalayan black bears, wild boar, barking deer, and over 270 bird species. The park is also known for its diverse flora, with over 500 medicinal plants. The area holds spiritual significance, hosting temples and holy sites.
