Namobuddha (Nepal)

Weather…

Namobuddha is one of the three most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal, located about 40 kilometers east of Kathmandu. According to ancient tradition, this is the spot where Buddha, in a previous life as Prince Mahasattva, sacrificed his own body to feed a starving tigress and her cubs. An ancient stupa marks the site where his bones were reportedly interred, surrounded by thousands of fluttering prayer flags. Near the historic stupa lies the magnificent Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, which serves as a major center for Buddhist studies and practice. The hilltop location provides dramatic views of the Himalayan ranges, fostering a peaceful and meditative environment. Pilgrims visit throughout the year to pay homage to the virtue of compassion and self-sacrifice. Namobuddha remains a vital living center for Tibetan Buddhist culture and spiritual retreat.
