Legzira
Legzira is widely considered one of the most spectacular beaches in Morocco and all of Africa. It is world-famous for its massive natural stone arches, carved out of the red sandstone cliffs by centuries of ocean erosion. Although one of the primary arches unfortunately collapsed in 2016, the remaining arch remains a majestic sight, especially at low tide when you can walk directly beneath it. The contrast between the fiery red stone and the deep blue Atlantic is truly unique. The beach is a haven for photographers, walkers, and paragliders who take advantage of the updrafts along the tall cliffs. There are only a few simple guesthouses and restaurants on-site, which helps preserve the wild and rugged character of the area. Culturally, enjoy freshly grilled sardines caught that morning. Access is via Tiznit or Sidi Ifni, followed by a steep descent down a flight of steps to the shoreline. The best time to visit is during late afternoon at low tide when the setting sun illuminates the red rocks, making them glow. The climate is mild year-round, though the winter surf can be quite powerful. Legzira is a place that showcases the raw power of nature and leaves every visitor in awe of its monumental beauty. A long stroll along the surf provides the great opportunity to study the geological formations up close. The site radiates a raw, almost primal energy. Despite its fame, the beach rarely feels overcrowded as it is expansive enough to find a private spot. A visit to Legzira is perfectly paired with an exploration of the nearby town of Sidi Ifni.
