Oued Noun

The Oued Noun Valley, also known as Oued Asaka, forms a distinct geographic boundary in southwestern Morocco. The river originates in the western Anti-Atlas Mountains and traverses deep gorges and wide plains before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean south of Sidi Ifni. Geomorphologically, the valley is characterized by a highly dissected relief, reflecting intense erosion from past humid climatic periods. Geologically, the area is dominated by crystalline rocks and mineral-rich sedimentary formations. Historically, the Oued Noun often marked the southernmost extent of direct administrative control by the central Moroccan government (Bled el-Makhzen) and served as a border with the Spanish enclave of Ifni and the Western Sahara.
