Haliopolis in Agadir is Morocco's first industrial park entirely specialized in the value addition of seafood and the fishing industry. The zone was established under the Halieutis plan, which aims to make Morocco a leading global player in sustainable fisheries. Covering an area of about 150 hectares, Haliopolis provides state-of-the-art facilities for freezing, canning, filleting, and the production of fish oil and fishmeal. Agadir is the country's primary fishing port, and Haliopolis leverages this proximity to ensure an integrated supply chain from landing to export. The zone also includes a competency center for research and development to foster innovation in aquaculture and processing technology. By hosting numerous companies, Haliopolis has created thousands of jobs in the Souss-Massa region. The park contributes significantly to Morocco maintaining its position as the world's largest exporter of canned fish (especially sardines) while meeting the highest international food safety standards.
