Imouzzer Ida Ou Tanane

Perched dramatically on a limestone plateau in the western High Atlas, Imouzzer Ida Ou Tanane lies about 60 kilometers northeast of Agadir. This village is the ancestral home of the Ida Ou Tanane tribe and is famous for its striking white waterfalls, which are particularly spectacular following the spring rains. The region is often referred to as the 'Honey Road' due to its production of some of Morocco's finest thyme and lavender honey. A visit to the weekly Thursday souk is essential, where traders from surrounding valleys gather to sell handicrafts, argan oil, and spices. The drive from Agadir takes you through the renowned Paradise Valley, a lush oasis featuring palm trees and natural rock pools first-rate for swimming. The surrounding landscape is dotted with almond and argan trees, which create a beautiful display of blossoms in February. Local gastronomy is simple yet exquisite, with the famous honey often served alongside fresh, homemade bread. Hikers enjoy the trails that wind through deep canyons and traditional mountain hamlets. The best time to visit is during spring (March to May) when the waterfalls are at their peak flow. The village is most easily reached by rental car or grand taxi from Agadir.
