Perched on the hill above the settlement is the Vranjina Monastery, founded in the 13th century by Saint Sava, which served as a significant spiritual center for centuries. In the mid-19th century, the island was the site of fierce battles between Montenegrins and Ottomans due to its strategic position on the lake. Today, Vranjina is a popular tourist stop where visitors can sample fresh lake fish in local taverns or embark on scenic boat tours through the lake's pristine wetlands.
