Ada Bojana is a triangular river island located at the southernmost tip of Montenegro, directly on the border with Albania. It was formed in the 19th century following the accumulation of river sediment around a sunken ship at the mouth of the Bojana River where it meets the Adriatic Sea. The island is bounded on two sides by the river's freshwater and on the third by the saltwater of the sea, creating a unique ecological niche. Ada Bojana is primarily renowned for its three-kilometer-long sandy beach and its status as one of Europe's premier centers for naturism. The rustic wooden fish restaurants built on stilts along the riverbanks contribute to the site's distinct and relaxed charm. Due to consistent wind conditions, the island is also a popular destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing enthusiasts. Its diverse flora and fauna, particularly the wide array of bird species, make it an interesting spot for nature observers. Ada Bojana is celebrated as a sanctuary of freedom and simplicity, far removed from the bustling mass tourism of larger resorts.
