Sveti Stefan (Montenegro)

Weather…

Sveti Stefan is a unique destination on Montenegro's Budva Riviera, consisting of a small fortified island connected to the mainland by a narrow sandspit, or tombolo. The settlement dates back to the 15th century and was originally built by the Paštrovići clan as a defensive stronghold against pirate raids. In the 1950s, the entire fishing village was converted into a luxury hotel resort, with the exterior appearance of the medieval stone houses carefully preserved to maintain its historical character. The site quickly became a glamorous retreat for world celebrities and statesmen, garnering international acclaim. Its red-tiled roofs and massive stone walls provide an impressive contrast against the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea. Several ancient churches are located on the island, including the namesake Church of Saint Stephen. Although access to the island is now largely restricted to resort guests, the iconic panorama remains one of the most photographed views in the Mediterranean. The adjacent Miločer Park provides beautiful walkways shaded by cypress and pine trees, enhancing the site's exclusive atmosphere.
