Water temperature…
The Tara River Canyon is the deepest canyon in Europe and the second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon, reaching a maximum depth of 1300 meters. Spanning 82 kilometers, it is often called the "Tear of Europe" because of the incredible purity of its water, which is drinkable throughout much of its course. The architectural centerpiece is the Đurđevića Tara Bridge, built between 1937 and 1940. This five-arch concrete bridge stands 172 meters above the river and was the largest of its kind in Europe when it was completed. The most sought-after tourist activity is white-water rafting, particularly on the exciting stretch between Brštanovica and Šćepan Polje, which features over 20 rapids. For those seeking a different thrill, a massive zipline near the bridge allows visitors to glide across the abyss for nearly a kilometer. Rafting season runs from May to September, with the highest water levels occurring in late spring. The canyon is a protected part of Durmitor National Park and is best accessed by road from Žabljak or Mojkovac, with iconic viewpoints like Ćurevac offering vertical views of the river below.
