💡 Tips
- Crasnoe is located in Transnistria, meaning you must use Transnistrian rubles (PRB) for all purchases; Moldovan Lei and foreign credit cards are generally not accepted.
- Keep the migration card you receive at the border checkpoint safe, as you must return it when leaving the territory.
- Marshrutkas (minibuses) run between Crasnoe and Tiraspol or Slobozia, but schedules can be erratic, so confirm return times with the driver.
- Avoid photographing checkpoints, police, or military infrastructure, as local authorities are strict about security.
- The town is deeply focused on the food and agriculture industry, offering an authentic look into unpolished, working-class Transnistrian rural life.

Crasnoe is an industrial small town in the Slobozia District, located in the southern part of the breakaway region of Transnistria. The settlement was founded in 1957 during the large-scale industrialization efforts of the then-Moldavian SSR. Geographically, the town is situated on the left bank of the Dniester River, close to the border with Ukraine. For decades, the economic heart of Crasnoe was the 'Oktiabr' canning factory, which was among the largest of its kind in the region, processing agricultural goods from the fertile surrounding lands. The urban structure is characteristic of a Soviet industrial settlement, defined by functional apartment blocks and social facilities built for factory workers. Despite the economic transitions following 1990, the town remains an important base for the local food processing industry. The population is multiethnic, with significant numbers of Moldovans, Russians, and Ukrainians. Crasnoe plays a vital role in the local infrastructure of the Slobozia District, acting as an employment hub for the surrounding villages in the Dniester lowlands.
