Meysembourg Castle (Luxembourg)

Weather…

Meysembourg Castle is a lesser-known spot, tucked away in the dense forests near Larochette. The current castle, a magnificent neo-Gothic building, was erected in 1880 for Prince Karl of Arenberg on the foundations of an older castle. The architect, Charles Arendt, created a fairytale-like castle that harks back to the romantic ideals of the Middle Ages but was equipped with 19th-century comforts. Surrounded by a vast, private estate with lakes and forests, the site exudes an atmosphere of tranquility and seclusion. Although the castle itself is privately owned and inaccessible to the public, numerous hiking trails lead through the surrounding lands, offering photogenic views of the towers and battlements peeking through the trees. It represents the 19th-century nobility's fondness for historicist architecture in an idyllic natural setting.
