Kohlscheuer (Luxembourg)

Weather…

Kohlscheuer is one of the most impressive rock formations in the Luxembourgish Mullerthal region, also known as Little Switzerland. It is characterized by extremely narrow and dark rock crevices, some of which can only be traversed with the aid of a flashlight. The creation of these sandstone formations dates back to erosion processes that have carved deep fissures into the Luxembourg sandstone over millions of years. Hikers particularly value Kohlscheuer for the adventurous nature of the passage, with some sections so narrow that one must move sideways to pass through. The surrounding landscape is dominated by dense beech forests and high humidity, which promotes the growth of rare mosses. Geologically, the area belongs to the layered landscape of the Paris Basin and is a central point of the Mullerthal Trail.
