Plungė Manor (Lithuania)

Weather…

The magnificent Plungė Manor, frequently referred to as the "Lithuanian Versailles," is one of the most significant architectural and cultural monuments in the Žemaitija region. The impressive Neoclassical palace was completed in 1879 under the patronage of Prince Mykolas Oginski. The estate was famous for its immense wealth, its expansive historical library, and its outstanding role in patronizing the arts. Most notably, Oginski financed a private orchestral school here, where the world-renowned Lithuanian artist and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis received his early musical education. This architectural masterpiece is framed by a sprawling landscape park covering nearly 60 hectares, featuring century-old oak trees and romantic ponds. Today, the excellently restored palace houses the Samogitian Art Museum, keeping the glorious history of the Lithuanian nobility vividly alive.
