It has the longest and most indented shoreline of all Lithuanian lakes, yielding an impressive array of bays, peninsulas, and small islands. The lake serves as the beating heart of the Sartai Regional Park, providing sanctuaries for numerous waterfowl and supporting an intact, biodiverse fish population. The lake gained special fame through a centuries-old tradition: the winter horse racing, which was originally held directly on the thick ice cover of the frozen water body. The lake is easily accessible from several surrounding towns and villages in northeastern Lithuania. Regional roads lead directly to recreational areas, and boat ramps are typically well-marked.

What to bring
