Karklė is the only settlement within the Lithuanian Seaside Regional Park that has preserved its original Curonian fishing village character. Located about 10 kilometers north of Klaipėda, it serves as a peaceful retreat from the busier resorts nearby. The highlight of the area is the Olando kepurė (Dutchman's Cap) nature reserve, featuring a 24-meter-high cliff created by the Baltic Sea eroding a parabolic dune, offering panoramic views of the coast. Visitors are drawn here by the pristine environment and the opportunity to find pieces of amber washed ashore after sea storms. The beaches in Karklė are distinct for their rocky terrain and scattered boulders, a stark contrast to the sandy dunes typical of Lithuania. Many traditional farmsteads have been converted into cozy guesthouses, maintaining the local architectural heritage. In August, the village hosts the popular Karklė Live Music Beach Festival, attracting large crowds for outdoor concerts.
