Jaunauce Manor (Latvia)

Weather…

Jaunauce Manor was built in the early 19th century commissioned by Baron Karl von Medem and stands as one of the most significant examples of Empire-style architecture in Latvia. Completed in 1815, the building is characterized by its strict Neoclassical forms and exceptionally well-preserved interior decorations. Especially valuable are the painted ceilings, historical tile stoves, and authentic wooden elements that reflect the aristocratic lifestyle of that era. Starting in 1922, the manor housed a local school, which played a crucial role in maintaining the building's structure throughout the 20th century. In recent decades, extensive restoration work has been carried out to restore the original splendor of the halls and the surrounding manor park. Today, the estate serves as a cultural center and museum, providing insights into Baltic German history and the development of the Saldus region. The surrounding landscape park complements the architectural ensemble, offering visitors a peaceful environment for historical exploration.
