Ezere Hill (Latvia)

Weather…

Ezere Hill is a prominent terminal moraine in southern Latvia, near the Lithuanian border, reaching 197 m above sea level. It is one of the highest points in the Semigallia region. The hill was formed during the Weichselian glaciation from compacted till and gravel. Its slopes are steep, with gradients up to 15 degrees. At the summit, a historic observation tower built in the 19th century gives views of the surrounding flatlands. The hill is covered by deciduous forests of oak, linden, and maple. It is part of the Ezere Nature Reserve, established to protect local biodiversity. The area hosts several small lakes and wetlands, supporting bird species such as the common buzzard and black woodpecker. Ezere Hill is a popular recreational destination for hiking and sightseeing.

Terrain & paths
The hike involves a modest ascent over grassy slopes and through patches of local forest. The pathways are usually unpaved tracks or natural clearings created by local foot traffic.
