Auce Manor (Latvia)

Weather…

Auce Manor, also known as Vecauce Castle, is one of the most prominent examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in Latvia. It was constructed between 1842 and 1845 for Count Karl von Medem, following the designs of the renowned Berlin architect Friedrich August Stüler. The castle is characterized by its striking square tower and delicate Gothic ornamentation, which give the structure a storybook appearance. Surrounding the manor is a meticulously landscaped park featuring ponds and ancient trees, designed to complement the architectural style. Following the land reforms of the 1920s, the estate was granted to the University of Latvia as an agricultural experimental station, a role it continues to fulfill today under the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. Restored after suffering damage in 1905 and during World War II, the castle now serves as both a museum and an educational hub.
