Margoon Waterfall
Margoon Waterfall in Fars province is a spectacular natural wonder, widely considered one of the most beautiful falls in the Middle East. It is unique because it is a 'spring waterfall', the water doesn't come from a river flowing over the top, but rather bursts out from thousands of cracks and springs within the moss-covered cliff face. Falling from a height of over 70 meters and stretching nearly 100 meters wide, it creates a majestic wall of water and mist. The surrounding valley is lush and green, filled with apple orchards, walnut trees, and spirited wildflowers, offering a cool sanctuary from the desert heat. The Zagros Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop for hikers and nature photographers. Nearby Sepidan is famous for its trout farms and high-quality mountain honey. The spray from the falls keeps the immediate area significantly cooler than the surrounding region. The best time to visit is during late spring and summer (May to August) when the water flow is peak and the vegetation is most lively. It is a scenic three-hour drive from Shiraz, making it a great day trip for nature lovers.
