Qamsar Rose Gardens (Iran)

Weather…

The town of Qamsar, located south of Kashan, is the historical and cultural capital of Iranian rose water production. Each year between mid-May and early June, the region's valleys transform into a fragrant pink sea of Damask roses (Rosa damascena). The unique microclimate at the edge of the desert, combined with cool nights at an altitude of 1,900 meters, gives the local roses an exceptionally high concentration of essential oils. The delicate flowers are carefully hand-picked before sunrise and distilled in traditional copper pots heated over open fires. The premium quality rose water produced here, known as Golab, is widely used in Persian gastronomy and cosmetics. Furthermore, it holds profound religious significance, as it is exported to Saudi Arabia annually to wash the Holy Kaaba in Mecca.
