Weather…

The Szentendre Open Air Museum (Skanzen) is the largest of its kind in Hungary, dedicated to showcasing the traditional rural architecture and lifestyles of various regions across the country. Spread over 60 hectares at the foot of the Pilis Mountains, the museum features more than 300 reconstructed buildings, including farmhouses, churches, mills, and workshops dating from the 18th to the mid-20th century. The site is organized into regional units that reflect the cultural diversity of the Carpathian Basin, from the Great Plain to the Highlands. A highlight of the museum is its own internal railway system, featuring a restored vintage train that connects the different regional exhibits, allowing visitors a convenient journey through time. Inside the authentically furnished houses, regular demonstrations of traditional crafts such as weaving, pottery, and bread-making bring the daily lives of ancestors to life. Skanzen serves as a major center for ethnographic research and heritage preservation, hosting numerous seasonal festivals and educational programs. It has an immersive experience into the customs and folklore that have shaped Hungarian rural identity for centuries.
