Kaposvár City Hall (Hungary)

Weather…

The Kaposvár City Hall is an outstanding example of eclectic architecture in Hungary, defining the character of the city's main square, Kossuth Square. The current building was constructed between 1902 and 1904 based on the designs of architects Ede Kopeczek and György Kertész. Its facade combines Neo-Renaissance elements with decorative motifs that emphasize the representative nature of the municipal government. A major highlight of the interior is the grand staircase and the ceremonial hall, which features exquisite stained-glass windows created by the renowned artist Miksa Róth. A prominent tower rises above the main entrance, housing a carillon that regularly plays melodic chimes across the city center. The building serves not only as the seat of local administration but also as a venue for cultural events and official receptions. Over the decades, the City Hall has undergone several renovations to preserve its original architectural details. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful public buildings in Somogy County and stands as a symbol of the city's civic development in the early 20th century.
