Rovinj, once a humble fishing village, has retained its authentic charm despite its status as a top destination. The Old Town was originally an island, connected to the mainland only in the 18th century, which explains its dense clusters of buildings and labyrinthine alleys. Its most prominent landmark is the Baroque Church of St. Euphemia, featuring a 60-meter bell tower modeled after St. Mark's in Venice. From the summit, one can see over the terracotta roofs and the 22 islands of the Rovinj archipelago. The waterfront is lined with cafes and restaurants celebrating Istrian cuisine, including fresh truffles and seafood. Art galleries define Grisia Street, which winds its way up to the church square. Nearby, the Golden Cape (Zlatni rt) forest park provides shaded paths and swimming spots along the natural rocky shore.
