Golaš is a quiet find in the Bale municipality in southwestern Istria. The village has preserved its original character over the centuries and is an excellent example of traditional construction using white Istrian stone. The narrow streets and small squares exude a meditative calm, making Golaš a popular destination for individual travelers. In the center of the village stands the small Church of St. Anthony, offering insight into the religious history of the region. The surroundings of Golaš are dominated by vast olive groves and vineyards. Some of the world's best olive oils originate from this immediate area, and many local producers offer tastings. Thanks to its location on a small hill, the village sometimes features views stretching to the Adriatic, despite being a few kilometers inland. Proximity to Bale and Rovinj allows visitors to quickly reach coastal cultural centers while still staying in absolute silence. Culinarily, Golaš is closely linked to Istrian tradition. In the surrounding konobas, homemade manestra (stew), pljukanci pasta, and dishes with wild asparagus are served. For hikers and cyclists, there are marked trails leading through untouched nature, passing by old field huts (kažun). The village increasingly attracts artists and people seeking a 'Slow Travel' lifestyle. Here, time seems to pass more slowly, with cicadas providing the rhythm in summer.
