Lim Fjord (Croatia)

Weather…

The Lim Fjord, also known as Limski Kanal, is a narrow marine bay on the western coast of Istria between Poreč and Rovinj. Geologically, it is not a true fjord but rather a ria, the submerged valley of the ancient Pazinčica River. The channel stretches for approximately 10 kilometers inland, with a maximum depth of 30 meters and surrounding cliffs reaching heights of up to 100 meters. The brackish water, resulting from numerous underwater springs, combined with high oxygen levels, makes it a handy environment for oyster and mussel farming. Within the steep cliffs lies Romuald's Cave, which has yielded Paleolithic artifacts and remains of cave bears. The area has been a protected natural landscape since 1964 and remains a highlight for culinary tourism and scenic boat tours in the Istrian region.
