Slatine is located on the northeastern side of Čiovo island, directly across from the city of Split. The village has evolved from a traditional fishing and farming community into a popular tourist destination while retaining its original charm. The coastline is dotted with numerous small coves, pebble, and rocky beaches. The Kava beach at the eastern tip of the island is particularly famous for its crystal-clear water. A cultural highlight is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Prizidnice (Gospe od Prizidnice), built in 1546 on the steep cliffs of the island's southern side. It is a place of peace offering remarkable views of the open sea and the neighboring islands of Šolta and Brač. Slatine's center features a small harbor with regular boat lines connecting to Split and Trogir, allowing guests to visit the major cities without a car. Today, the local economy relies primarily on tourism, though many families continue to produce olive oil, wine, and honey. Local restaurants serve fresh fish and Dalmatian specialties daily. Slatine is handy for families and those seeking a quiet environment yet appreciating the proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Trogir and Split.
