Huangguoshu is world-renowned for the magnificent Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in China and one of the most famous in Asia. Visitors travel here to witness the immense power and sweeping beauty of the cascades as the Baishui River plunges over a massive cliff. The scenic area is uniquely designed to allow visitors to view the roaring falls from multiple angles, including from behind the water curtain via the Water-Curtain Cave, creating a truly immersive natural experience. Beyond the main falls, the area is rich in karst landscapes, featuring hidden caves, dense greenery, and a series of smaller, pretty waterfalls scattered throughout the park. The local cuisine is deeply influenced by Guizhou's spicy and sour traditions, offering rustic farmhouse dishes and locally sourced river fish that perfectly complement a day of outdoor hiking and exploration. Located near Anshun city, Huangguoshu is easily accessible by bus from both Anshun and the provincial capital, Guiyang. The prime time to visit is during the summer and early autumn (June to October) when the river's water volume is at its peak, making the waterfalls most powerful and dramatic, though spring also features pleasant weather with fewer crowds.
