Tuzla Thermal Power Plant (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Weather…

The Tuzla thermal power plant is the largest and most powerful coal-fired power station in Bosnia and Herzegovina, forming the backbone of the national electricity supply. The facility is located on the outskirts of Tuzla and was strategically built in close proximity to the extensive lignite mines of Kreka and Banovići to ensure short transport routes for the fuel. With several blocks constructed in different decades, the power plant not only supplies large parts of the country with electricity but also provides essential district heating for the households and industrial facilities of the city of Tuzla. The operator, the state-owned Elektroprivreda BiH, has long been planning the construction of a new, ultra-modern Block 7 to replace older, less efficient units and to meet increasingly strict environmental regulations. The enormous cooling towers of the facility are a widely visible landmark of the industrial region.
