Han-sur-Lesse (Belgium)

Weather…

Han-sur-Lesse is a small village that ranks among Belgium's most visited sites thanks to the Caves of Han. These limestone caverns were carved over millennia by the Lesse River, which disappears beneath a mountain and re-emerges on the other side. Guided tours lead through massive chambers filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, enhanced by a modern sound and light show. Above the caves lies the Han Wildlife Park, a 250-hectare reserve where European species such as bison, wolves, brown bears, and lynx live in a natural setting. Visitors can explore the park either by safari bus or via a walking trail. This combination of geology and nature makes the town a convenient destination for families. In the village itself, the 'PrehistoHan' museum displays archaeological finds recovered from the Lesse riverbed. Arrival is mostly by car, as the village is located in the rural Namur province. The caves are open year-round, with the underground temperature remaining constant at about 13 degrees Celsius.
