Caves of Han (Belgium)

Weather…

The Caves of Han-sur-Lesse are among the most fascinating and expansive limestone cave systems in Europe. This extraordinary natural wonder in the Ardennes was formed by the underground course of the river Lesse, which carved deep into the limestone massif of the Boine hill. The cave network extends for more than 14 kilometers, a significant portion of which is open to the public. Guided tours through the subterranean galleries reveal awe-inspiring chambers such as the massive 'Salle du Dôme', towering 145 meters high. Archaeological discoveries dating back to the Bronze Age indicate that the caves have been visited by humans for thousands of years. The classic tour concludes with a memorable boat ride on the underground river, emerging back into the daylight at the 'Trou de Han'.
