Yelsk is a town in southern Belarus, located in the Homel Region within the historical area of Polesie. The settlement was first mentioned in 1564 under the name Korolin. It was later known as Elsk before officially gaining town status and its current name in 1962. Its geographical position in the Polesie Lowland defines the surrounding environment, which is characterized by vast forests, wetlands, and the Myshanka River.
